The identification of Qumran Cave 6Q, has long remained uncertain because of the scarcity of archaeological documentation. This article re-examines the available archival and published sources together with the results of a 2019 field survey. A comparison between the historical descriptions and the present morphology of the site suggests that the cave traditionally identified as 6Q should be reconsidered in favour of a nearby cavity that better fits the archaeological evidence. The paper also discusses the implications of this reassessment for understanding the role of Cave 6Q within the Qumran cave system and for reconstructing the deposition of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
