Service public-Medien und kollektive Erinnerung

English German Audiovisual archives of the national public services could get some of the most attractive elements for constructing collective memory. Hundred thousands of hours of well indexed content permit a dynamical and interactive reconstruction of what a territory’s habitants have seen or were meant to have seen of the territory itself, and of the world. Public service broadcasters have a good opportunity to increase their public reason, offering their archives as a Museum of the recent past. To fulfill this ambition, however, they must on the one hand clarify their archiving politics, and on the other hand, they must permit a hermeneutical approach to the documents; to understand the real meaning of an audiovisual document, historians must know the circumstances and conditions of its creation and distribution. By the example of Swiss Radio and Television company SSR SRG idée Suisse, this article will explore how this transparency regarding its own history could be favored by a service public broadcaster. Die audiovisuellen Archive der nationalen Radio‐ und Fernsehanstalten können zum attraktivsten Element der kollektiven Erinnerung werden. Dafür gibt es drei Hauptgründe, nämlich die Relevanz , die Zugänglichkeit und die Interaktivität. Eine Konsequenz aus dieser voraussehbaren Entwicklung ist, dass die Programm‐ und Unternehmensarchive gute Chancen haben, den Service‐public‐Anstalten neue Bedeutung und Legitimation zu vermitteln. Dies bringt allerdings auch Aufgaben mit sich: Von den Rundfunkunternehmen wird erwartet, dass sie ihre Archivpolitik transparent gestalten und ihre Hausarchive pflegen und öffnen. Dies ermöglicht es, die Institutions‐ und Programmgeschichte aufzuarbeiten. Im Folgenden werden diese Thesen anhand der Entwicklung bei der SRG SSR idée suisse, häufig mit dem spezifischen Beispiel der Radiotelevisione della Svizzera italiana (RSI), erörtert. Dies, weil den Autoren diese Beispiele besonders gut bekannt sind und weil im Fall von RSI im übersichtlichen Rahmen der italienischen Schweiz das identitäre Potenzial der Archive sehr deutlich hervortritt.
