A research project groups the publications that came out of the same piece of funded research. Linking documents to a project lets a reader, a funder or a research office see the whole output of that project in one page, instead of hunting for it across the repository.

Projects are managed from the administration interface, menu Projects.

Project fields

Field Description
Name The project title, as it should appear on its page and in the document detailed view.
Description A free-text summary of the project.
Start date / End date The funding or activity period.
Identifier The project number, typically the one assigned by the funder.
Investigators The researchers involved.
Funding organisations The bodies financing the project.
Organisation The SONAR organisation the project belongs to. Set automatically.
User The account that created the project. Set automatically.

Dedicated organisations can have a project form of their own, with additional fields agreed with RERO+. If your form does not match the table above, this is why.

From a deposit, at Step 4: Research projects, the submitter either searches for an existing project or creates one on the spot. See Deposit a document.

From a document, in the administration interface:

  1. Edit the document
  2. Add the field Research project if it is not already present
  3. Type a few words of the project name and select it
  4. Save the document

To detach a document, edit it and remove the field.

For some organisations, creating a new project from the deposit form is disabled: submitters can only pick from projects entered beforehand by the library or the research office. This is a per-organisation setting, decided with RERO+.

Who sees and edits what

A submitter only ever sees and edits their own projects. They cannot correct the project of a colleague, even within the same institution — that correction goes through a moderator, who sees all the projects of the organisation.

See Users and roles for the full permission table.
