<dc:description xmlns:ns1="xml" ns1:lang="en">The research work, documented here, observes and analyzes the construction and use practices of a specific portion of the Alpine territory, the valley floor. This study is part of the Research Project "Les fonds de vallée dans l'éspace alpin, 1700-2000", supported by funding from the Swiss National Fund. Thanks to the consultation and use of diversified sources (archival, historical, visual, qualitative socio-anthropological) it was proposed to enhance the interweaving of interactions developed over time between the resources of the territory and the forms of land appropriation by analyzing the different ownership systems applied through customs (collective uses of land and resources, collective properties and presence of Carte di Regola and Vicinie) and legal codification promoted by the various political systems that have succeeded each other in the territory. A particular area of the Atesino valley floor (Eastern Italian Alps) was chosen as the case study, the Rotaliana Plain located in the Autonomous Province of Trento in the historical period between the early eighteenth century and the early 2000s. This territory has seen in these three centuries the succession of different political systems and different administrations and, depending on the dominant government ideology, the change in both the approach to the management of resources and the modalities of regulation of possession. The issues addressed in this research work, i.e. the transformations of the landscape of the Rotaliana Plain produced by the relationship between the evolution of ownership regimes associated with forms of land appropriation and the evolution of economic-territorial models of use of resources in a historiographical framework full of ideas and comparative solicitations. The territory and the properties that insist on it have changed over time, as we also wanted to demonstrate with this study, and continue to change: over the centuries they have created a real history with transformations, permanence, breaks and continuity. In fact, in each period analyzed we have seen how the ideas about property, borders, territory and its autonomy have not remained unchanged, but have also undergone the influences of the great changes that European history has experienced.</dc:description>
